The collections are there also only for viewing, they are available, locally at the sales only.
Sometimes the Farmer's markets when we are both there. There are others kinds of living rocks, such as pleiospilos nellii & bolussi. All bloom yellow to white.
Care for Lithops is as follows, no afternoon sun in our region, only morning sun.
Water well every 2 weeks or so. Let soil dry in between waterings. Protect from temperatures below 40 degrees. Several months after blooming, which occurs once the plant is 3 to 5 years of age, the older leaves will begin to shrivel. Do not remove them. The new growth will begin to appear in the fissure. At this point, discontinue watering. This new growth will use the water stored in the old leaves. The old leaves will become papery shells, and can be removed at this time.
Then resume regular watering.
Care for the rest of this group is normal watering for succulents. Once a week, more in the summer less in the winter.
